The breed standard describes the Border Collie as "athletic in appearance", with well-sprung ribs, a chest that is "deep and rather broad", and deep, muscular loins that are not tucked up1. Compared with a Lab of the same height, a Collie is lighter, with a narrower but still deep chest.
