The UK breed standard describes a close-coupled, muscular dog with a wide front, a deep brisket and well-sprung ribs1,2. Put simply, a Staffy is wide and deep in the chest for its size. The same standard gives a desirable height of just 35.5–40.5 cm at the shoulder, with dogs weighing 13–17 kg and bitches 11–15.4 kg1,2.
